Hotel housekeeping checklist

A room attendant's housekeeping record. Add each room with its status: departure, stayover, do not disturb or refused service. Tick the tasks done, record a full linen change, minibar items, maintenance issues with photos and any lost property, and the time finished. The form counts rooms with issues and rooms not serviced, and a supervisor records the rooms inspected, the standard and the chemical storage check, and signs. Every question is listed below, and you can fill the live form in on this page.

What is on a hotel housekeeping checklist?

This checklist records each room's status and the tasks done: making the bed, cleaning and sanitising the bathroom, replacing towels, vacuuming, dusting, emptying bins, replacing glasses and cups, restocking amenities and checking the minibar. It also records maintenance issues, lost property and the time each room was finished, and the supervisor records which rooms they inspected and the standard found.

Last updated . Facts checked by the SiteSurvey team on 17 October 2026 against HSE CAIS22: safe use of cleaning substances in the hospitality industry and HSE: COSHH and cleaners, key messages.

Every question in the hotel housekeeping template

A hotel housekeeping checklist: each room with its status, tasks done, linen and amenities, minibar, maintenance issues with photos and lost property, then a supervisor check. 3 sections and 27 questions. Follow-up questions and guidance appear only when an answer calls for them, so the person on site never sees the ones that do not apply.

Make it your own: every question is editable

This is a starting point, not a fixed form. Once it is in your SiteSurvey account you can reword any question, add or remove questions, sections and answer options, and add your own logo, so it fits the way your team works and the jobs you do.

Details you only enter once

Hotel housekeeping FAQs

How are do not disturb rooms handled?

Mark the room as do not disturb or refused service. The tasks are hidden for that room and the form counts the rooms not serviced, so the supervisor can follow up.

Can attendants report maintenance issues?

Yes. Record the issue with photos in the room's entry. The form counts rooms with issues for the maintenance team.

What about lost property?

Record the item and where it was handed in, so it can be traced if a guest asks.

What about cleaning chemicals?

The supervisor confirms chemicals are kept in their labelled containers, stored and used as the COSHH assessment says. HSE's hospitality guidance warns that many cleaning products are corrosive, that bleach mixed with acidic toilet cleaners gives off harmful gases, and that cleaning substances should never be stored in food or drink containers.

How is it different from a hotel room inspection?

The hotel room inspection checklist is a detailed audit of a room's condition. This checklist is the daily record of what each attendant did in each room.

Who uses this?

Hotels, serviced apartments, B&Bs and contract housekeeping companies.
