What does an end of tenancy clean include?
An end of tenancy clean usually covers every room's floors, skirting, walls, windows and sills, switches, doors and handles, inside cupboards, light fittings and radiators, the bathroom's limescale, toilet, bath or shower, and the kitchen appliances: oven, hob, extractor, fridge freezer and washing machine. Dated before and after photos show the property was returned clean.

Every question in the end of tenancy cleaning template
An end of tenancy cleaning checklist: each room as a space with the tasks done, before and after photos and anything that needs more work, plus the kitchen appliances, keys, meter readings and sign-off. 3 sections and 42 questions. End of tenancy cleaning FAQs
Why does it matter for the deposit?
Figures from The Deposit Protection Service show cleaning was the most common reason for deposit deduction claims in each of the last five years. If a deduction is disputed, the scheme's free dispute service asks both sides for evidence, so dated photos of each room before and after the clean, against the check-in inventory, matter.
Does each room get its own photos?
Yes. Each room has before and after photos and becomes a space in the project, so the photos stay with the room in the report.
What if something cannot be cleaned?
Mark the room as needing more work and say what, for example mould in the bath sealant that needs resealing. That separates cleaning from maintenance.
Should I record meter readings?
Yes. The form records electricity, gas and water readings with photos, which helps the landlord and the outgoing tenant close their accounts.
Who signs it?
The landlord or agent signs the checklist, and the cleaner signs too. Any room marked as needing more work stays on the record with what still needs doing.
Who uses this?
End of tenancy cleaning companies, letting agents, landlords and tenants.
