Office move checklist

A survey to plan and price an office move. Record the new address, move date and the access at both sites: lifts, loading bays, parking and building manager bookings. Add each room with its desks, chairs, cabinets, crates and special items, and the form totals the desks and crates. Record the IT to disconnect and reconnect, confidential waste and the actions, and film the route with the optional Walk Cam. Every question is listed below, and you can fill the live form in on this page.

What should an office move checklist include?

An office move checklist should cover the move date and window, access at both buildings (lifts, loading bays, parking and bookings), an inventory of each room's furniture, crates and special items, IT disconnection and reconnection, what is being disposed of, confidential paper and data destruction, and setting up and checking workstations at the new office.

Last updated . Facts checked by the SiteSurvey team on 17 October 2026 against HSE: display screen equipment workstation assessments, ICO: a guide to data security and HSE: manual handling at work.

Every question in the office move template

An office move and relocation survey: both sites and access, each room's furniture, IT and crates, IT disconnection and reconnection, confidential waste, the move plan and workstation set-up at the new site. 4 sections and 42 questions. Follow-up questions and guidance appear only when an answer calls for them, so the person on site never sees the ones that do not apply.

Make it your own: every question is editable

This is a starting point, not a fixed form. Once it is in your SiteSurvey account you can reword any question, add or remove questions, sections and answer options, and add your own logo, so it fits the way your team works and the jobs you do.

Details you only enter once

Add this form to a project in SiteSurvey and it fills in what the project already knows, so nobody on site retypes it and every form on the job uses the same names. Anything filled in can still be changed.

  • Project: the project name

Office move FAQs

Does the form count the crates?

Yes. Enter the desks and crates needed for each room and the form shows the totals, which helps size the crew and vehicles.

What about confidential paper and data?

Use a secure shredding or data destruction service and keep its certificate. The ICO's guide to data security includes how paper and electronic waste holding personal data is disposed of. The form shows a note when there is confidential material.

Do workstations need checking after the move?

For staff who use display screen equipment daily for an hour or more at a time, HSE says employers must do a workstation assessment, and again when a new workstation is set up or an existing one is changed. So plan to check each workstation at the new site.

What about heavy items?

Record safes, plants, artwork and AV as special items so they get the right equipment and crew. HSE says employers must avoid hazardous manual handling so far as reasonably practicable, and assess and reduce the risk of any that cannot be avoided.

Can I film the building?

Yes. The optional Walk Cam guides you to film the route from the furthest room to the vehicle and each room's contents.

Who uses this?

Office removals firms, facilities managers and office managers planning a relocation.
