Pressure system inspection record
An examination record for a pressure system under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000. Record the system and its written scheme of examination, then each item: scan its data plate, record the safe operating limit, the protective devices tested, its condition, repairs needed and the date to complete them, and the date after which it must not be operated. The form warns on unsafe items, counts repairs, records whether the scheme is still suitable and the date of the report, and ends with the signatures. Every question is listed below, and you can fill the live form in on this page.

What is a written scheme of examination?
Under the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, a written scheme of examination identifies the items in a pressure system, the parts to examine, the nature of each examination including tests of protective devices, the preparation needed, the maximum interval between examinations, and the competent person who certified it. A competent person then examines the system in line with the scheme and reports.

Every question in the pressure system inspection template
A pressure system examination record under PSSR: the written scheme, each item with its safe operating limit, protective devices, condition, repairs and dates, the next examination and the competent person's report. 3 sections and 53 questions. Follow-up questions and guidance appear only when an answer calls for them, so the person on site never sees the ones that do not apply.

Pressure system inspection FAQs
When is the report due?
PSSR regulation 9 requires the competent person to send a signed, dated written report to the user (or the owner of a mobile system) as soon as practicable, to arrive within 28 days of the examination, or before the date the report sets for repairs if that is sooner.
What must the report say?
The parts examined, their condition and the results; any repairs, modifications or changes to safe operating limits with a date to complete them; the date after which the system must not be operated without another examination; and whether the scheme is suitable or should be modified.
Which systems are covered?
HSE INDG178 says relevant fluids include compressed or liquefied gas, including air, above 0.5 bar, pressurised hot water above 110°C, and steam at any pressure. Air receivers, steam boilers and autoclaves are common examples.
What if an item is unsafe?
Under PSSR regulation 10, where the competent person thinks there will be imminent danger unless repairs or changes are made, they must give the user a written report straight away and send the same details to the enforcing authority within 14 days. The system, or that part of it, must not be operated until the work is done. The form warns and counts unsafe items.
Does it replace the written scheme?
No. Under PSSR regulation 8, the user or owner must make sure the scheme has been drawn up, or certified as suitable, by a competent person. This form records each examination against it.
Who uses this?
Engineer surveyors, insurers' inspection teams, compressor and boiler service companies, and maintenance managers.
