What can a fire door condition visual inspection record?

Identify the building and door. Film the leaf, frame, accessible seals and hardware without alteration. Refer concerns to the Responsible Person and complete any required closer test separately. Video shows visible condition only. It cannot prove fire resistance, certification, measured gaps, seal suitability or closer operation. The Responsible Person must complete applicable checks and records separately.

Identify the building and door. Film the leaf, frame, accessible seals and hardware without alteration. Refer concerns to the Responsible Person and complete any required closer test separately.

01

Door identity and leaf

Show the door in its corridor context and record its unique ID outside any personal footage.

Example observation
“A staged communal-style door is visible; its real specification is unknown.”
Scripted example, not a real finding.
02

Leaf and frame interface

From a safe position, show accessible edges and obvious damage without claiming gap measurements.

Example observation
“The staged leaf and frame are shown; gaps are not measured.”
Scripted example, not a real finding.
03

Visible seals and hardware

Show accessible seals, hinges and glazing details without removing or disturbing components.

Example observation
“An exposed door edge and hinge are illustrated; how the synthetic view was obtained and component performance are not established.”
Scripted example, not a real finding.
04

Closer location and next check

Show the closer and finish with a context view. A separate procedure must verify operation.

Example observation
“A closer location is illustrated, but the closing action was not tested.”
Scripted example, not a real finding.

How to use the record

Make the visual evidence useful.

Identify the visit

Record the asset or site, visit stage, date and inspector. Keep each clip attached to its point and note anything inaccessible.

Describe, then escalate

Say what the camera shows and where it is. Record the next action without guessing the cause or declaring a specialist result from video.

Inspection scope

Video shows visible condition only. It cannot prove fire resistance, certification, measured gaps, seal suitability or closer operation. The Responsible Person must complete applicable checks and records separately.
